Interface development

A clever application nobody can make sense of? That isn't much use. With interface development we make complex systems, digital products and AI applications clear, logical and pleasant to use. So users don't have to think about how something works, they can simply get on with it.

Digital applications are getting smarter. But not automatically easier. An AI assistant can do a great deal, but if nobody understands what to do with it, the value stays on the table. A platform can be technically perfect, but if users get lost between buttons and steps, it still doesn't work.

And that is exactly where it often goes wrong. A lot of attention goes into what a system has to be able to do. Less into how someone works with it. Yet that is where the difference lies between an application that gets used and one that gets avoided.

Good interface development takes the noise out. It makes choices logical. And it makes complex technology feel surprisingly simple.

Services

What does interface development cover?

User research and UX strategy

Not guessing what users need, but finding out. We map behaviour, needs and frustrations and turn them into clear user flows. So you know where you can make the difference before you start designing.

Visual UI design for web and app

A good interface explains itself. We turn functionality into clear screens, logical interactions and a visual style that fits your brand. From mobile app design to complex business applications.

Generative UI and conversational interface design

AI is changing how people deal with digital products. So we design interfaces that can move with it. Think chatbots, AI assistants, voice interfaces and generative UI that adapts to context, behaviour and need. Not yet another screen. Exactly the right interaction at the right moment.

Prototyping and user testing

Better to find a problem before anything gets built. We turn ideas into testable prototypes quickly and put them in front of real users. From a simple first sketch to a high-fidelity prototype that almost feels like the finished product. What doesn't work, we take out. What does work, we build on.

Result

What does good interface development deliver?

01

Users work out what to do more quickly.

02

Complex systems become accessible, including for non-technical users.

03

Less frustration, fewer mistakes and fewer drop-offs.

04

Design decisions are based on behaviour and evidence, not on gut feel.

05

Problems come to light before developers have to fix them.

06

New AI functionality gets a logical place in the user experience.

07

Digital products grow more easily with new wishes and new possibilities.

Built smart. But does it work smart?

Do you have a website, app, platform or AI application that can do a lot technically, but where users aren't getting everything out of it yet? We'd be glad to take a look.

Partner in Tech, Data & AI

Why Indicia?

Indicia is a tech, data and AI partner that helps clients stay ahead in the AI era. We think strategically with you, design and build what is needed and support the people who work with it. For results in weeks, not months. With privacy and security as the foundation. Driven by senior experts who are always right beside you.

At Indicia, design doesn't sit in a corner away from the technology. Designers work alongside developers, data experts and AI specialists. So we look at the whole picture from the start: what does the user need, what is technically possible and how do we make the two fit together perfectly? No beautiful design that turns out to be impossible to build. And no technical showpiece the user can't make head or tail of. Just a digital experience that adds up.

Frequently asked questions about Interface development

UX design is about the whole user experience. What is someone trying to achieve? Which steps does that take? Where does frustration creep in? UI design is the visual and interactive expression of that. How does it look, where do you click, how does the interface respond? In short: UX decides how it works, UI decides how that feels. A strong digital product needs both.

By not starting with everything AI can do. We start with what the user wants to do. From that need we design the interaction, the information and the feedback. The technology is allowed to be complex. The experience does not have to be.

By looking beyond the answer itself. A user needs to know what the assistant can do, what it cannot do, and what the next step is. Including when something goes wrong. So we design complete conversation flows, exceptions and follow-up steps, and we test them with users.

Generative UI is an interface that adapts on the fly. Instead of one fixed screen, the user gets an experience that changes based on context, need or AI output. So only what is relevant at that moment appears.

Because a design file does not always show you where someone gets stuck. A prototype does. Testing early reveals the confusing bits before time and money have gone into development. That makes the end product better and saves you building things you do not need.

Certainly. You do not have to start over. We can analyse where users get stuck, which steps are needlessly complicated and where there is most to gain. Then we improve where it counts.
