With a one-of-a-kind portal, TLN makes running the Personal Choice Budget (PKB) very simple for its members. Together with Iselect, Indicia built an innovative, industry-wide solution for TLN: the PKB Portal.

A one-of-a-kind industry-wide portal supports the PKB
Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN) is the largest employers' organisation for road haulage companies and logistics providers in the Netherlands. TLN negotiates the collective labour agreement with the unions and supports its members in putting it into practice. With a one-of-a-kind portal, TLN makes running the Personal Choice Budget (PKB) very simple for its members, and takes administrative work off their hands.
Together with Iselect, an expert in employee benefits and benefits communication, Indicia built an innovative, industry-wide solution for TLN: the PKB Portal.
It lets the organisation meet the industry's new rules, as set out in the most recent collective labour agreement, without any fuss. One of the things that agreement established is that every employee gets a Personal Choice Budget (PKB), which they can put towards money, extra time off or training, for example. The new agreement and the arrangements around the PKB create a lot of extra administration. Thanks to the portal from Indicia and Iselect, the companies affiliated with TLN do not have to deal with it.
A serious reduction in admin for TLN members
The communication portal went live first, in October 2017, holding all the information about the new PKB scheme. Connecting it to the PKB application in January 2018 completed the picture. After the first year, TLN is already reducing the administrative burden for around 70 companies with some 7,500 employees between them by running the PKB from one central portal.
Individual employees use the portal to make their PKB choices. It does not just process the transactions; it adds value too. Iselect's HR expertise means employees are nudged towards the right choices as they go. And the affiliated companies benefit from much lower costs, because they invest together in one central tool instead of each arranging the PKB for themselves.
Data flowing in both directions
The portal gives the transport companies insight into the choices their employees have made. The data is exchanged with the payroll system automatically, so it is always correct. And in the other direction, TLN gains a better view of the industry by combining the anonymised data from all the affiliated parties. A win-win, in other words.

Integration keeps the information right
At Indicia we took care of the technical side of the portal. We have plenty of experience with portals and connectivity solutions, which means the solution can easily deliver complete information packages to different organisations. In the first year we rolled the tool out at a number of companies. We also built an integration platform with standard connectors for just about every payroll system you can think of, so we can add new companies to the portal easily, or set up new portals for other industries. And because the data exchange between all the systems is properly arranged, the figures in the payroll and wider administration are always correct.
