The whole statute book in your pocket
Indicia built a number of mobile applications for the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, including the Wettenpocket app. Lawyers, judges and legislators can now leave the heavy books on the shelf. The Netherlands has a remarkable number of laws and regulations, and anyone looking for information on a specific subject can quickly end up on a long hunt for the right rules.
The Knowledge and Exploitation Centre for Official Government Publications (KOOP) wanted to change that. Indicia was an obvious fit for the job, because it followed on seamlessly from building the government's open data portal.
The Wettenpocket
Indicia built this unusual application together with Textinfo. The Wettenpocket lets you download all kinds of bundles, each one bringing together everything there is on a particular area of law. The library function gives you access to over 3,000 bundles of information, and finding the legislation you need is easy, from the Licensing and Catering Act to Book 1 of the Dutch Civil Code.

A multifunctional app
The detailed search works fast and draws on existing open data sources such as wetten.nl and the local and regional regulations on overheid.nl. As well as searching for, finding and reading bundles of legislation, the app lets you annotate, highlight and add bookmarks, so you keep an overview and can find passages again quickly. And it is always current, because updates arrive in the app automatically.
